Kiwi bach accommodation ~ Picton ~ Marlborough Sounds ~ New Zealand

With stunning views, all day sun and a little beach, Cariad is a gorgeous, secluded  hideaway, just five kilometers from the seaside town of Picton.

This is a great base from which to explore the Sounds, walk the Queen Charlotte Track and tour Marlborough’s wineries. Or just put your feet up and relax. 
 
Originally built in the 1950s, the cottage has been renovated, insulated, furnished and equipped with a heat pump to ensure a comfortable stay whatever the time of year. But we have maintained the charm of the simple Kiwi bach and visitors often say that our cottage reminds them of the long, lazy summer holidays of their childhood.

Cariad is ideal for solo travelers or couples and is particularly popular with honeymooners. 

Set amongst native bush, the cottage comprises a living/dining room, a kitchen, a bedroom and bathroom. A door from the living/dining room and French doors from the bedroom, open onto the balcony with table and chairs and a BBQ. The sun awning allows the balcony to be used as an outdoor room all day long.

Down at the beach, there are two kayaks to paddle around the bay. Take a dip in the crystal clear water, or try your hand at catching a fish for tea! 

There are two bicycles with helmets for your use and a cedar hot tub for soaking under the stars.

We don’t have a TV but there are books, indoor games and music CDs to entertain you. Broadband internet is available. 

We provide lots of information about the many things there are to do locally, places to eat, shopping, local transport and boat hire. You can also visit www.pictonmarlborough.co.nz and www.destinationmarlborough.com.
 
If you are travelling without a car we can pick you up from the airport or ferry. Or you could hire a car in Picton. 
 
We are happy to stock the fridge and larder with fresh local produce, dry goods and wines for your arrival.
